Keahole-Kona International Airport (KOA): Approximate driving time is 20 minutes and distance is 12 miles.

Driving directions from Keahole-Kona International: Exit the airport and make a right onto State Hwy 19 (Queen Kaahumanu Hwy) south. Continue south on State Hwy 11 for about 3 miles. Turn right on Lako St, then right again on Kupuna St. Turn left on Royal Poinciana Dr, then turn left on Alii Dr.

Getting there: The best option from the airport is a rental car or a taxi ($16–25; fees subject to change without notice).

Getting around: A car is essential for sightseeing on the Big Island.
